I'm in the process of rebuilding my 78 F150 swb 4x4. I got this truck from my dad about 3years ago and he had it since 1981. The truck was his daily driver for awhile, then became his hunting and fishing truck in 1996. That's when he got a DD and this truck sat most of the time after that. The motor has been replaced 3 times and the most recent was in 97 when he got a reman engine and that has 20k on it now. It sat for awhile not being used much when we moved in 98 to Hayden,AL. I never really took a whole lot of interest in the truck since everything he owned was ghetto rigged in some forum of fashion haha. The truck needed some work when I got it in my possession in 2008. I sanded the truck down to bare metal, welded patch panels in cab corners, lower rear bed sides and painted the truck with aclyic enamel until I could afford a good paint job. I drove the truck for awhile offroad and it got scratched up pretty bad but no dents. I soon realized playing hard in the mud wears out a lot of parts. The hubs got greased a lot, alternator went out, timing chain is loose and needs replaced replaced shocks and trackbar bushings. Mainly minor repairs and general maintenance. I've decide to start a rebuild and make the truck nice again. As of right now I'm working on the bed getting small dings out, grinding the molding rivets off and fixing tailgate area where my dad installed a 2x12 piece of wood for a tailgate and welded some brackets to hold it in. My plans are to swap to a cab with a/c that I already have that's in great shape and swap my 351 to a 400 that I have in my parts truck.I'll post pics of my progress as I go along.
