Okay thanks. I think I need to check if everything is okay with this spring and washer as the previous owner of the truck swapped the line for one off another truck and he might have taken the fitting off the pump in the same way as the author of this original write up. I can feel the "give" of the spring inside the fitting so at least the spring is there. If I take the fitting off the pump can you tell me which way round the spring and washer fit in there?

If interesed in the Saginaw Pump: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/6...ering-fix.html
Saginaw Pump: 20-6244
Pressure Line: Get one from a 79 F250

I'd prefer to get one that doesn't need any re-bending, which I think is what's provided by using the "1979 F250" line. But odds of finding exactly a '79 F250 in the yard are slim. I'm sure there's a broader range of years that the donor line can be from. And is it only a F250? Does engine type matter?

I think '79 could have been before the C2 pump came out.
I'm SURE Ford didn't like paying GM's Saginaw division for an important component needed in every vehicle coming off each of their lines!
Its probably just a metric vs SAE fitting but for $17 I couldn't be bothered to try and figure it out.

So a new line is only $17? Indeed if it's that cheap, it's not worth messing with a junkyard line. But you seem to be saying the '79 F-250 line was the one that needed bending, so color me a little confused.

Would be interesting to know what the story is relative to the recommended line from the '79 F250. I've seen that mentioned in a couple threads.
