I have a drain on my batteries coming from somewhere i think it might be my gp controller, because once i charge the batteries up and run the truck for a while i come back and, the batteries are dead the next day and it has been very hard to start the first time , after i get it started it starts right back up fine no problem. I think it may be the glow plug controller has gone bad,because it clicks a couple times dosent click at all, clicks a couple more times, and dose the same thing for about five seconds and then the wts light finally goes off, and i crank, crank and crank and then cycle the plugs a few more times and it sputters like it wants to start and then it starts, and white smoke bellows out the tail pipe for mabey 5 sec. and then goes away.
Does this sound like a bad glow plug controller?
How do i test to see if it is bad?

 

Test the plugs first, make sure they are all good. To make sure the controller works you need to have 8 good plugs. With the good plugs you should get a solid 8-10sec of glow plug at the first start in the morning. If it gives that annoying intermitent click instead it could be the controller or just the relay, to check that I'm not sure but I'd imagine you could put a test light on the input side of the relay and see if that pulses. If it doesn't the signal from the controller is good the relay is just bad, if it pulses the controller is probably your problem
