Exclamation M5OD 2wd to 4wd??

Guys, I am wanting to put an M5OD behind a 351 in my 67 4x4. I've found a tranny in a 2wd, what I'm wondering, can a transfer case be bolted to this tranny, or is the 4x4 tranny specific for the transfer case?

Thanks for any info!

Pretty sure the 4x4 trans is going to have a different tailshaft housing. Converting may require complete disassembly.

M5OD behind a 351w? Take it easy.

Have you considered the ZF?

HOWEVER, what pattern is your TC to trans pattern? You need to confirm these will bolt to that TC. What model TC is it?

Don't have the transfer case yet. The 351W I'm building is not going to be a monster, so I thought I'd go with the M5. May just wait until I can find the tranny/ tc all together. Unless I run across a ZF that someone doesn't want a ton for, and one that will fit a 351. Most I've seen fit the 460

The ZF was used behind 300s and 351ws in F250s and similar, but that's easy to say and as you know, harder to find. Good luck with your truck.
