Strange problem with dual gas tanks.

The recall only runs from 1989-1993. Here are the NHTSA campaign numbers:

93V125000

01I008000

Search them here.

Would anyone know the parts and part numbers that are replaced in this recall?
Thanks

Strange problem with dual gas tanks.

I have a 1995 F 150 with a 302 dual 17 gal tanks and have had this issue dealt with twice now by ford at two different dealers. They replaced the pressure reg and the check valve. and told me that if it happens again that i would have to pay over 500 to have the complete fuel system rebuilt. that was a 40 some thousand miles and then again at 51,000 I now have 160139 miles and have been switching tanks for over 4 years I refuse to pay for something that I feel is a saftey hassard not only to myself but to others on the road with me. so please keep me posted via email and this posting because that is my next project on my truck the fuel system..I still have the repair tag hanging off of the pressure reg stating the need to replace the fule pumps and hosing to the injector manifold.

Strange problem with dual gas tanks.

also to add my dad has an 87 f-150 and has the same problem. he deals with it by only using one tank.

note if it were not for us the consumer they the dealer would not have a job. may perhaps we start a joint letter to congress to have this problem addressed for all f- series trucks with dual tanks.

Strange problem with dual gas tanks.

Kinda odd that I run across this, I have a '96 F-150 Supercab 4.9L Inline Six Eddie Bauer Edition with the dual tanks, just recentally I was filling the truck up and the front tank started making a wierd noise and I looked and fuel was spilling out of an EMPTY TANK!! I took the nozzle out and looked at it and it looked ok, so I put it back in and started fueling it up again and it did the same thing, spilling a whole lot of gas on the ground. I turned the truck on(not start), and tried again it it worked, I was able to fill up the truck, but ever sence then, fuel has been transfering tanks, could this be the same problem that everyone else has. It has only done this a couple of times, put now it's transferring tanks. Is this covered under a recall? -Joe

I have a 96 F-150 that's having the fuel transfer problem. Have any of you folks had any luck getting this taken care of at the dealer? Anyone with this year a truck? If not what is the fix? Replace both fuel pump assemblies? Thanks.

I think I've got a similer problem on my '86. Came home today and noticed a bit of gas under the rear filler neck, opened the cap and was gretted with fuel rushing out. I had filled both tanks thursday and been running on the front tank.

I'm having the same problem. I'm thinking about just driving onto the service drive with fuel spewing out of the front tank and basically dare them not to pay for repairs. We'll see what happens!

Edit, just realized this thread is 7 years old... hardy har har.

Any Help. I'm tired of switching tanks back and forth.
I wish!

I first noticed my problem when i filled up both tanks, and w/ the selector on rear every time i took off from a stop light, my rear tires would spin. turns out it was spilling out of the neck on to the ground right in front of the tires...i figured if i stomped on it hard enough i could have made a path of flames behind me like in the movies

Now i just leave it on front and can drive 500 miles w/o having to switch tanks....still waiting on a fix.

I just purchased 1987 F150 from an estate, been sitting for 11 years, care taker would start twice a year so the problem didn't appear until I started to use it, runs only on front tank and transfers the fuel to the rear. Here's hoping that the recall (being safety related) has no expiration date or mileage this truck is all original equipped
