302 to a 300 switch
I just recently had my 89 f150 become involved in a roll over and the body's a little beat up but engine and tranny are still running strong with 57,000 miles, it has a 300 inline 6 with m5od 5 speed manual tranny, i found a truck with a good body and a bad engine but good tranny with a 302 and a t18 4 speed manual i think it is and i was wondering 1) does the 300 I6 line up with this tranny 2)Is there much transitioning during this swap Ex. certain brackets etc.. thanks for any answers.. i appreciate them

Complaining at 6 min? Welcome to FTE.
OK, are both 2wd or 4wd, or is it one of each? The truck with the good body, what year is it.
1) with the proper bell, the 300 will bolt up to the T18. Since the bell pattern is the same for the 300 and 302, the 302 bell might even work. Worth checking--I do not know if it will work.
BUT I would keep the Mazda trans if it is in good condition, depending on axle ratios, tires, intended use. The T18 has a granny first, and only 3 usuable road gears with a pretty big spread, and 4th is direct. Depending on axle ratio, you may run out of steam at 60 mph with the 300. Or not.
2)Transitioning: Cooling, exhaust, engine computer, wiring harness, engine mounts, possibly trans cross member.
Since you have two complete trucks, you should be able to transfer everything. Scope it out, make a list, check it twice etc before you start. Pictures of how things go will help.
