Looks like some type of intake air heater but honestly I have no idea.
Could you give us a hint as to what type of vehicle it is from.

That's gotta be it. Good job Jim.
That was throwing me off with the hose barb, threads and o-ring.

It's something we don't normally get to see....well, except for the hose barbs. The first time I saw one was after the rad was dropped on the floor, the plastic tank broke dooohh!

Dam, second guess...

Yup, not what I expected to see. I just had no clue what it actually was, maybe fins or tubes like the oil cooler.
So I cut the tank off and there she be.
It's a double walled tube, fluid goes all through it. Kind of neat, lots of surface area.

Thought I'd pass it on to those that were curious also.

That was quick. I kinda did wonder, but not enough to tear into a rad.

Here are some other pics to understand better what was written above and the new fittings if you want to upgrade them to a bigger calibre.

What year is that cooler from?
The one in my pics, the barbs are not removeable. I figured they were all like that.
If not, I'm going to upgrade mine like what you show!
I'm tired of the stupid things leaking no matter how much I clamp them tight.

Do you have pics of your whole new hose connection? Not sure what your bushings are for.

Thanks.

Jim, I really dont know, I just see them in some post, copy and paste to my pc pics, but maybe I can find something else for you later.

PS Looking to your pics and mine, they are very similar, maybe you only have to cut the stock barbs, tap the cooler and install the new barbs. IDK

I thought about cutting and tapping, but I don't want to chance getting brass shards in the trans fluid.

I thought that was your set-up, guess those pics were just out floating around?

I have one of a CPS cut in half, and I bet Jose hasn't copied it to his personal files yet.
