Getting close to that time around here, especially with such a mild winter. Anyone have any early trips planned. I've got a baby due next week so that knocks February out of contention, but March is looking promising for at least a weekend trip.

I was just thinking how I might be able to pull the TT out of the snow bank within 3 short months.

Our first planned trip is Easter week when the kids are out of school, but might try to get a short weekend trip in before that if weather and my goofy work schedule permit.
It's snowing here right now!

Took my first trip of the "year" to the Red Hills of GA/FL for a long quail hunting weekend.

60°F - 70°F light wind and a little rain on Sunday night.

Just taking a poll here. I tow a 4000lbs TT and I feel the engine's sweet spot is right at 2000 rpms (+-100rpms). I actually regeared to 4.10's so I could travel at a more moderate speed at that rpm with 35" tires.

What rpm's do you guys w/ 7.3's like to tow at?

Check the max speed rating on your TT tires, most if not all of the ST tires are limited to 65 MPH. And those crapy China bombs just love to come apart if they get too hot, too old or too fast!

I'm not sure if my question was confusing but it wasn't about tires. It was more about what rpm do you like to tow at (7.3 owners)?

Sorry I though that you were saying with your new gears you were looking to tow at a higher speed, my bad, reading too fast!

2100 is good but I go higher (faster) around grades to keep it in OD, just personal preference.
I am still trying to learn how to relax, slow down, and enjoy the sights. It's a work in progress.
I'm pulling double your weight so hills slow me a little more

When I had the stock 3.73's w/ 35" tires I had to do nearly 80mph to keep my rpm's up around 2000 to pull the hills in OD. With the 4.10's I'm at 65mph.

So I'm not the only one that thinks 1900-2100rpms is the sweet spot. I was accused of lugging the engine at that rpm. Over 2100 the engine just makes more noise, I'm going too fast, and I don't feel like it's making more power.

I'm at about 8,000 lbs and tow approx 2000 RPM too. That also happens to be the 55-65 MPH range for me. I often hit the button on the shifter to take it out of overdrive on inclines though.
