77 f150 cam help
my pickup's been itching for a new cam (and maybe intake). the motor being dropped in will be a 71 400 and i heard about the horsepower and what not and i've heard about the rv cams. will this help give it more horsepower or just torque? and another question: how much torque can i sacrifice with this truck (in favor of horsepower) before i have to start downshifting on hills?
note: the motor is 1971 stock (9.1 compression, 2v carb, 0 degree retard/advance on cam)

With a 2bbl carb, 9:1 comp, factory heads, in a truck, an "RV" style cam would be a good choice. The further up the food chain you go, (as far as cam specs go) the more lazy it will be in the rpm range you would use a truck engine most.
My suggestion would be, to call your favorite cam manufacturer or visit their website. They'll ask you a ton of questions, gear ratio, tire size, trans, etc. then they'll offer you a few choices to pick from.
