safety chain placement

safety chain placement
Hey, I've got a small trailer that I use periodically and I would really like a good place to put the safety chain mounts.
I just have a hitch on the bumper because the loads are mostly on the trailer axles and max out at maybe 500lbs.
I was a junkyard recently and saw a 94 f150 with a bumper mount hitch and two eye hooks on either side bolted on.
How bad does something like that reduce structural strength? If it's minor or none at all, I'd like to do that so that I can feel much more safe then just rigging the chains so they don't drag. which resulting me in putting a bike lock around the spare tire eye hook and attaching both chains there...
