that happened once when I was little riding in Dad's combine, except I wasn't leaning against the window. Dad reached down to move the toolbox so his foot would have more room, and the corner of it hit the windshield. we had to shut down harvest till we could get a new windshield for it.
From what the article said, she was riding with her dad in the cab of a combine while he was harvesting soybeans. The machine hit a bump or some king of obstacle,the windshield shattered, she fell thru, and onto the moving header
WOW, talk about some kind of freak accident.... perhaps it was an older combine, but the ones I have been in have HUGE cabs, and you would hit the floor before you hit the windshield... thats very sad
Most of the farm equipment I've seen around here is older so that is very possible (accident was 5 miles north of my place)
Ohh... most of the equipment around Central IL is 5 years old or newer....you just don't see many old combines here... nor tractors either... unless its running the auger...
