You can hot rod the late model motor just like the '60s & '70s motors depending largely on your local emission laws. The only things unique to the fuel injected 460 (IMHO) is the intake manifold, distributor, & heads and valve covers.(also accessory mounts)
There are no aftermarket intakes but the factory one is not bad for a street build up (could use a little port clean up). I think I've heard of someone port matching an aftermarket intake to the efi heads, it might be worth some research.
the tfi-iv distrubtor is a requirement if you're using the eec-iv computer.
the efi cylinder heads can be modified just like earlier heads.
the exhaust ports have the port floor filled in as compared to the earlier heads and is reported to improve flow especially if ported. reference http://www.reincarnation-automotive....ed-page-3.html

here is a list of my mods (sorry but you asked)

heads
2.19/1.76 intake/exhaust valves
bronze valve guides
pedastals milled - screw in rocker studs installed
comp cams steel roller rockers (fits under stock valve covers)
guide plates
3/8" push rods
bowl hog for over size valves and much ex. port work
L&L headers

block
zero decked
kb 206 pistons-sp moly file fit rings
polished beams stock truck rods with arp wavelocs
fluidamper
crane hyd. roller cam 216/224 dur. .556/.580 lift (expensive)
crane roller lifters(expensive)

intake
bbk 61 mm x 2 throttle body (expensive)
30 lb injectors
pro-m 77 with k&N
x3z cobra ecu with tweecer programable chip (expensive)

desk top dyno says 392 hp @ 4000 rpm & 569 tq @ 3000 rpm

Well, I've done everything from valve jobs to total rebuilds but there are two things that I haven't tried yet...modifying an EFI and porting/polishing heads. I think I will now be doing both. Any recomendations for really good reading material on the head porting/polishing route? I really don't want to screw them up and have to buy another junk yard set to try again on.
As far as the MAF vs. Speed Density, I think I've got a handle on that. From the other forums here, it sounds like you can get the same results from a Speed density buildup as you can with MAF...so long as you get a chip burned by someone who knows what they are doing. My only question on that is since you are using pre-programmed routines with a custom burned Speed Density chip, will it respond as well as MAF which reacts to the molecular density of the air flowing across the sensor?

Given the same engine and proper tuning, the SD system will make a little more power over the MAF system.

I may not have to learn the art of head porting. I just checked out Force Fuel Injections WEB page and they can convert a pre-EFI intake manifold to a fulie intake. They weld in the injector bungs, install fuel rails, and put on a 1000 cfm throttle body, (they also have a 2000 cfm tb for applications over 500 hp). This would allow me to use any of the performance heads available for pre-87 460s. I am waiting for Force to tell me if their intake conversion would work with the existing EFI stuff. My guess is that it should work great. Also, to cut down on the headaches of converting to MAF along with everything else, I'll probably have a chip burned for the Speed Density system that it already has.
Does anyone out there have any experience with Force Fuel Injection? Are they okay to deal with, etcetera?
