I pulled the steering box from my '54 F-100. It has the name "Gemmer" and "4CC07" stamped on it. I was told this is a box from a heavier truck than the original F-100 box. Can anybody tell me from these numbers if that is so? Thanks, Steve

I will bump this for Steve and a little for me. If someone can identify his I will be next in line.
All I know is that 53-on boxes were all some sort of Gemmer. If you count the turns lock-to-lock, it may identify the box. Bigger trucks had lower ratios (more turns) than F-100's.

Yes that's a larger truck box, the f100 box is also a GEMMERR but the number is 3CC03. Not all boxes were GEMMERs as a few were INGERSOL
Steve, are you putting in a new box or rebuilding the one you have? I will be replacing mine in my 54 with a PS box from Mid Fifty. I have already fitted up the PS pump but just getting ready to get the new box and get started with the change. I have not yet seen the name on my existing box.
Mine is in great shape. I had noticed it was larger than what was on friends F-100. Just trying to figure out who had the stock F-100 box (them) or replacement box (me). Not a bad thing, just bigger.
