On my 2011 F550 2wd, there is a little cubby panel where the 4x4 switch mounts. I thought this would be a great place to mount switches. I wanted 2 switches that are not ignition switched for my warning lights, so I popped that little panel off & cut the bump off. Then I made a PVC face plate for it.


I cut out the center of that piece, and ground it down so the new faceplate could mount flush.

Finished panel, mounted. I could've glued the new face on, but I felt screws would last longer. The whole panel pops out without removing the screws for serviceability.

 

looks good!! Only thing I would do different is maybe try to find some allen head screws, they might look a little more "factory"

 

I thought about that too. I just used the smallest black screws I had laying around. I may just cut another faceplate and glue it using no screws now that I know I can pull the whole panel out without unscrewing it.
