I've been wanting to get rid of the cummins vacuum/power steering setup since day one. And go with a hydraulic pump in place as I won't be needing any vacuum in the truck. Traded some parts that I didn't need and picked me up this hydro pump, mount and gear. The pump will be exchanged for a new one when final assembly starts. Here's the new pump setup. Along with me test fitting it on the engine and also one of the factory vac/PS pump.

^everything lined right up. It free's up a lot of space compared to the stock setup as you can see by pics. Makes things look cleaner and the less clutter the better on trail rigs.

That looks great man, The hyd work so much better for everything as well. Look into psc reservoirs, They have one that will work perfect, One large outlet and two smaller returns.

Alright I'm getting closer to being up to date on the build. I got to thinking about the wiring in the truck and what I plan on having accessory wise. The stock harness was spliced and cut so many times when I got the truck so I didn't want to even want to mess with it. I knew I had to have power windows and maybe locks. Lots of circuits for lights, radio, outlets ect ect painless wiring was having a big sale on most harnesses they offered so I got a 28 circuit extra long truck harness. Never did a universal type of harness so I hope this isn't a nightmare to do. The harness looks good and has each wire labeled every foot or so. Now I need to look into connectors to get all the stock things all plugged in. Also picked up a billet engine cover, alternator bracket and a NV4500 short shifter for filthy cheap I couldn't resist

Nice, I was intimidated by the harness but once I got going on it and laying wires out it was pretty slick, That short shift is going to be sweet.

You read my mind. I been looking into the PSC reservoirs maybe you could help me out. I would of had one already but I didn't know what size in/out ports I needed as they have many choices. Our setups are almost identical same hydro assist Cyl and dodge hydrobooster. I think you had your lines finished what PSC reservoir did you end up using? Also on your electrical harness how did you connect the harness wires into the factory switches and whatnot?

My records show the reservoir as PSC-SR146H-8-10.

Looking at the reservoir this morning, I'm a little confused as I have the 12AN feed port on mine (matches the 12AN inlet on the pump)... with 6AN returns (I think these were shipped with 8AN though? I had a reason... just don't remember).

My receipt just shows a standard 10AN feed w/8AN return.

Looking at PSC site I don't see a three port res with the 12AN option. Only a two port race without filter is listed with 12AN feed. I'm sure PSC can provide one.

Either way... on the PSC site they have a tech link with plumbing options.

On my reservoir...
12AN feed
6AN steering gear return
6AN hydroboost return

Basic plumbing...

Reservoir to pump.
Pump to hydroboost.
Hydroboost pressure side to steering gear.
Hydroboost return (low pressure side) to res.
Steering gear return (low pressure) to res.

as for the electrical harness I used the existing harnesses for all factory switches I kept and used a 3 or 4 inch pigtail to a weatherpack connector so it could be changed or removed easily, I went with weatherpack because I had them and the tools to begin with. There is alot of argument over doits and weatherpack, but I dont really care. I can tell you the doits are smaller and easier to hide but the tools are more expensive and they do the same job IMO. Plus I ran bulkhead connectors threw the firewall that were weatherpack so I wanted to keep them all the same, That way If the cab ever needs to come off Its as simple as plug and play.

I can't seem to find the part number you listed above PSC-SR146H-8-10 on there site. I found 6-10 but no 8's. Only saw the 8 return if you went with a 12 supply. Is yours the 8.25" or 8.75" version? I'm thinking about getting this one in the link below. Comes with the hose as well. if the fittings are to big in this kit I can always get smaller fittings. I'll have to double check my supply on my pump and return on steering box before I order anything.

I would say thats the one you want, Ill have to throw a tape on mine to be sure. but I can do that tonight. As long as your big enough for your feed to your pump I would think that is your biggest concern. 6 or 8s will be plenty for your return. Mine is done and set up but Ill probably add in a cooler before its all over. Where your going to be crawling and constantly turning I would add one in right away. just somewhere between one of the returns. I may have changed mine as well I dont remember. But I do know mine is set up like this at this point.
12AN feed
6AN steering gear return (I would add in a cooler on this return.)
6AN hydroboost return

And that one does look just like mine. Match the ports and you will be perfect. They are all threaded on the Reservoir so there easy to change. Im 100 percent sure that one will work.

Thanks for the help certainly cleared some things up for me. That seemed like the best reservoir option for my application going off of what I have. I called up PSC to ask them about it and they said they use this one below in all there cummins applications. Basically they are all the same res but with different outlets. But the fittings can be interchanged
As they all have the same thread size on the res just the -AN side is different. So no restrictions if you have a 10 feed but need to swap to a 12 feed. I'll definitly be using a Cooler in the system. I know how hot it can get with trail rigs so don't want to risk damaging anything. Especially after I get my steering box sent out and rebuilt by redhead. Wonder if Santa still needs Christmas ideas for me haha.

Kinda excited to see if my steering box holds up with the psc assist, Kinda think it will. But if not I'm going to send mine to redhead as well. Herd they will install a bearing in the end of the shaft and will eliminate the movement that takes out the seal....

Crazed I sure hope santa brings you what you wish for, I'm thinking he should bring me the short shifter Pictured above lol But I wont hold my breath, That could hurt...

Been reading through the thread the last few days so as to catch up. Nice project for sure.

I'm interested to see what your fuel system consists of as I'm getting ready to run mine (if Santa reads my list at least!).

Also I've always wanted to dump the vacuum pump like you're doing. Do you know who makes the hydro mount that you got? Is this a stock part that was offered on a cummins configuration somewhere or aftermarket? As you can probably tell, I haven't looked into this much yet.
