old az f 600
i inherited a 1953 f 600 from my dad, in the family 50 years. it has a perfect, perfect body, equipped with a pto and dump bed (never used) an electric two speed rear differential and new tires all around. the whole truck has an honest 48000 original miles, the flat head is so quiet and smooth you almost cant tell when it is running! there is a 1000 gallon water tank on the bed, do i part this truck out or sell it in one piece?

Some people may consider it a sin, but the fact of the matter is, those same people will rarely step up and pay what it would be worth to save it, either. There just isn't enough of a market or demand for big trucks, but the need and desire for parts for the little brothers is huge. It's kind of sad, but very true, that some trucks must die so others can live. Think of it like our own version of an organ donor program. You gotta do what you gotta do.

If I had a place to park an save, and the cash to do so, I would put a bid in on it. Apologies to you Matrixmachine.

My apologies if my comment came off as a personal attack to you, Merv. It certainly was not intended to be. It was a generic observation of some people in our hobby who are really good at telling others what they should do with their stuff, yet they wouldn't spend $200 to put their money where their mouth is. They're also typically the first to complain about the price of the least expensive parts, too. I will say I've never known you to be a whiner. ;-)
And while it would be nice if we could save them all, the reality is it just isn't feasable or practical.

I guess I'm a little more sentimental than that.....I still have my dad's old trucks. They kind of keep his memory alive.
While I think it's a shame to part out a nice original truck....it is your truck to do with as you wish. If the money is that important, get as much as you can. One way or the other.
