How far will my tires stick OUT???

There is no way you'd be turning 5500 rpm with 4.56's and 35's, some of them come from the factory with 4.30's and whatever stock size tire is, 31 or so probably. V10 will have an OD trans and be just fine with 4.56 and 35" tires. Like Tom said though, check the v10 forum. While the v10 is the closest thing to a diesel torque and powerband wise you can get in gas form, they are a SOHC motor after all and don't mind turning some RPMs, don't be afraid to let 'er spin. A lot of the guys in the v10 forum also say fuel economy actually increases with the lower (numerically higher) gears as well to a certain point, and of course it puts less strain on the trans and everything before the diffs.
So yes, 4.56 will be fine with 35's, you might even want to go to 4.88's if you're thinking about larger tires down the road - and, again, check in the v10 forum for more first hand experience. All I've got experience with is stock v10's, just put ~33's on dad's with 3.73s and it does fine as well. The dually with 3.73s is a turd though, even with stock tires but, crew cab long bed dually is a bit of weight to haul around compared to the reg cab long bed we have...

Thanks guys for your input.
I am not happy with the current performance of my truck. When I get out of a parking lot I want to be able to take off!!!! I don't want someone to rear end me or at least that's the feeling I get with my new 35's. In fact, I am exchanging the Toyos 315/75/R16 with Nittos Mud Grapples 315/75/R16. I think that the Nittos will be better for off roading, because they are a more aggresive tire. I also like the idea that they are loud. The Toyos are too quiet. I already had done gear calculations before this post. With 35's it tells you, you need 4.35 gears. So the closest would be 4.30. Since down the road I might upgrade to 37 or 38's I should consider a lower gear like 4.56. You see I have not gone off roading yet. This is something new to me. I don't even know if I will like off roading. It all started with I needed rear springs and so the spring guy said why don't we add a leaf. So I did. I needed a muffler and I went with a dual exhaust, in fact I reduced the cat to a single because it wasn't loud enough. My exhaust manifold was leaking so I went with headers. This is when I started to want to go off roading. So I needed tires and I went for the 35's and therefore, I needed a 3" lift. Tomorrow I am adding the cold air intake. All I can think every day now is how I can upgrade my rig to go off roading. I have got the bag. So I don't know where I am going with this. In a year I might be in 37 or 38's with a 6" lift. So now would I be better off with a 4.56 , 4.88 or a 5.13? Don't forget I have a V10. THE REAL QUESTION IS IF STAY WITH MY 35's AND GO LETS SAY WITH THE 5.13 WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT? Any problems?
Re-gearing is a fairly expensive job. I don't want to re-gear again next year. The tires I will use or can sell them at a loss. Sorry for rambling but I wanted you to get a better picture of were I have come from and perhaps were I am headed.

wheel it as is for a bit and see if you actually like it before sinking the cash on it. gears are extremely import to performance, but they are the last thing i'd spend cash on if i had just got into wheeling. keep the 35's for a while and get to know how the truck acts and feels with them, and don't be a hotshot ******* on the street with the bigger tires and stock gears. all that **** does is kill tranny's and torque converters. if you like it, spend the money, otherwise keep it or dump it and start over with something else.

5.13's is to much for 37's let alone 35's youll be pulling 2500 rpm plus in OD bassically loosing OD like that.... 513's would be 40+" tires 4.56's would prolly be a bit much for 35's (although ive never driven your truck or a V10 for that matter) but everyone told me to go 4.88's to 5.13's with my 38's and im totally happy with the 4.11's i put in there although im thanking that i may step to a 4.30 front 4.56 rear but im also stepping to a wide Bogger in the rear, anyways dont go over 4.56's if your not sure your gonna ever step to 37's if your positive then go ahead with 4.88's your millage will suffer though but once you put the 37's on there then you will regain some millage but dont be one them that excpects to have a offroad rig that gets 20+mpg IT DONT HAPPIN actually my dedicated Off road ford gets gallons to the mile so be happy with what you have LOL

Damit Larry, Its all about math... For my pickup (the 94) with the 37s(tape says 36.3) the 4.56s I have make it geared about as close to how it was with stock tires and gears..
take stock gears/stock tires=X/new tires... And solve for X that will give you your new gear raito... if it comes up between two avalable gear sets, go with the lower set.

Yea i understand that but what im saying is in all reality i should be running 4.56-4.88's but id i did id have to run high range because i already pull second and third with the 4.11's what that calculator dont know is what power your turning you dont need as much gear for a 460 making 500hp at 5500 rpm as you do for a 4cly at 5500rpm

OK, I just had the front 3" lift, off road shocks and the cold air intake put in and the truck drives differently. I think I am gonna wheel it for a while, just like you said Fatdan460, go to some off road meets and actually do some off roading before I make my final decision. Thanks guys.

my buddy nick just started working in a "deezle performance shop" and said the same damn thing to me. he went from his 99 v10 to a 2000 powerstroke truck and now he's the deezle authority because he rebuilds lift pumps and can barely read he barely comes over anymore, but now when he does all i get to here is deezle crap
