I just went to Napa and got the cheapest GM sending unit, I do not recall year but I believe it was a late 70 or early 80's. I then hacksawed the two sending units and pieced the GM part into my Ford one using compression fittings. Just make sure the GM part with the arm has the same orientation as your Ford.
