Axle Swap 4x4 95 F150

I have 95 F150 4x4 and 33" tires and a Rear Axle that is on its last Leg. I would like to swap it for a bigger axle from a F250 or F350. I know I will have some fitment problems, but I don’t know what they are. Can someone help me out with known issues and some tips & tricks to make it easier?

P.S. The tag on the axle says “S832J 3.31 88 5E08” I think this means its Size is 8.8” and 3.31 Gearing.

you probly wont have any issues at all. Just measure your current spring perch locations and check out a similar year F250 rear. I bet they line up just fine. Other than that the U-joint size should be different so you might need to modify your drive shaft. Then once you have a nice stout rear end you can start breaking other stuff....

You'll need to carry two spare tires/wheels, one for the rear, one for the front.

dont forget the U-bolts and plates for the new axle , once in you will have to address the gears as so they match front and rear !

So I have been doing some thinking. I only want to put one axle in this truck and only change gearing as needed. I have plans to put a big block with 500+ Hp in the truck down the road. With that said I am not sure what the best axle for my truck is. Should I get a Ford 10.25", Dana 60, or a Ford 9" for my truck?
