Probably won't have any luck on a works kit through IH. My guy checked awhile back and they can't do anything with it. Ford locked it up. I did check with my guy at Ford and he can get me one for about 1200. It shows an oil cooler in the kit as well. But Ford doesn't show a kit for the 94 turbo engine. They are allot different then the other 7.3's Several different parts. It's like they forgot about it. Pistons are going to have different letters on them. The service pistons will have an "s" on them.

The crank should be fine. Diesels don't use junk cranks like gas engines do. You can look at the bearings and see if your line bore is out much. If they do look fine then clean it and hone it yourself. If you want to do that then let us know. We can get you through that. I do 90% of my own engine machine work. Most is common sense. To many people want to mill heads because they aren't pretty. If they aren't warped then leave them alone. You will have funny wear marks etc. Won't hurt a thing.

Well I just went through my engine and put all new gaskets .If i could have i would have rebuilt the whole engine ceramic pistons hone the cyclinders rockers push rods ! you already have it all tore down you might as well do the complete block then at least you know all is good in the engine. I replace everything i found along the way but would have still like to do the whole engine . You definately wouldnt go wrong. Im excited to hear more on your build and keep the pics coming ! Im getting closer on my 85 I cant wait! good luck!

I took a closer look at the pistons, a few of them have some rough spots that look almost like corrosion. I will post pics in a few minutes.

Also, the cylinder walls are all smooth except about a half inch on the top around each. It spins pretty free and sounded smooth.

Just a random thought... but has anyone ever heard of a big cam for diesels?? Haha can't imagine what that would sound like. Im not even sure if that's possible lol

here are the piston pics:

this one has a metallic dust on it, what could that be?
<a href="http://s1095.photobucket.com/albums/i463/91dirtydiesel/?action=view&amp;current=pistondust.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i1095.photobucket.com/albums/i463/91dirtydiesel/pistondust.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>

and a few look similar to this, with the corrosion looking substace on the lower left side. it is raised above like its built up

Can you get the IH part number. My guy told me there was a Ford issue with it. To be honest Ford was 2 to 3 hundred cheaper then that. A friend of mine just got one for a 7.3 for like 1150 and it came with an oil cooler.

Is there any specific bolts or adapters I need to make the stand fit to my block or will it be a universal type thing?

Why bother with Amazon?

Go to Harbor Freight in Kent or wherever the closest one to you is. Its cheaper and the same thing, as well as being local.
(and I checked with my brother and he no longer has his stand, sorry)

Get at Type4 cam! And then do us all a favor and dyno that bad boy!
