Word of caution! If your going to buy a set of chrome hood hinges from someone, make sure you know them or have a gaurantee for them. Chrome hinges may look nice in pictures but are they good? Are the springs sprung? If you have a set of good hinges, have them chromed. It will be cheaper in the long run, and definately less time consuming.

Don't have the springs chromed as chroming causes hydrogen embrittlement which weakens the spring steel, and they break easier. Just like you would want to have coil springs chromed.

I want to have my hinges chrome plated too. Not the springs. I'll probably paint the springs body color (black) or maybe some "hot" color to match/go with my interior. I also want to sandblast and chrome a steel grille. It's from a '67 I think. Since my '69 aluminum grille is toast. I also need to do a rear bumper from another project car. It's supposedly more economical to have all of your parts done at once so I'm told.
