Flathead Electric Fuel Pump / Ignition

Hi guys, I have a 51 F1 with an Eab motor. I am running a Fenton 2x2 intake. Can anyone tell me if I can remove my mechanical fuel pump and just run an electric pump. I would like to move the breather tube to the back since I am running an alternator. I am also trying to clean the engine bay up a bit. I will probably move the oil filter to the the firewall. here is a link to the type of breather tube I have in mind..
The Hot Rod Company - Flathead Breather - Unpolished

Can anyone also tell me how much of a difference it would make if I switched from points to a Pertronix Ignitor.

Yes, you can remove the fuel pump stand completely, and the fuel pump pushrod. I wouldn't recommend moving the breather to the rear. On the 8BA style engines one of the big improvements over the 59-series engines was an improved crankcase air flow system. 59 series engines were known for sludging up the valve chest, and the 8BA design greatly reduced this. The new design brings air in at the front of the valve chest (via the fill tube), sweeps it thru the valve chest to the rear of the block, down into the crankcase, and up from the front of the crankcase via a tube that connects to the underside of the intake manifold (under the draft tube hole). To do what you are suggesting completely eliminates the circulation of the crankcase air. It can be done by tossing the tube from the crankcase, and with modern detergent oils, you can get by, but it's not a great idea in my opinion.

Would I be able to use small air filter directly in the hole instead. I have the wire looms from sppedway and would like to use them, I think the draft tube interferes with them?
thanks, Phil

Make sure the fuel pressure is not higher than 4 psi and use a good fuel pressure regulator

I always wondered why you couldn't leave the stock fuel pump there, remove the pushrod and plumb the electrical through the stock pump and on to the carburetor. It will look stock and no one would be any wiser. Only problem I can think of is you would have to make sure you didn't overpressure the fuel system. The regulator would have to be installed prior to the stock pump.
