I have a friend with a 2000 Excursion, 5.4, that needs valve cover gaskets. She has been told that you have to remove the passenger side motor mount to get that side valve cover off....?

I can not imagine why other than the valve cover goes far enough under the firewall that you can't lift the cover over the valve springs and the motor would need lowered for the valve cover to clear the valve springs.
I really don't think this needs to be done.
I have never seen an EX with a 5.4
