Panel truck running board removal

What's the secret to getting the running boards off of a 51 panel. I got them unbolted but can't get them off. There is a flange on the back that doesn't clear the running board bracket. Any thoughts on what to do?

You are not alone. I have had this same issue many times having built a few panels. I think the boards were put onto the frame before the body was dropped onto it. I remove the rear brace and then use bolts to put it back on. Once everything is painted you won't want to wrestle that thing in there anyways. Not fun removing the rivets on the bracket, I grind the head off then use a large punch to drive them out.

Thanks for the response. I was contemplating either removing the bracket or seeing if I could cut part of the flange off where it would clear.
