In particular, I take my truck off road into fields regularly and not having a continuous regen message is a serious fire hazard driving / parking over dry grass. On a couple occasions the truck has been in regen as I approached the field so I took a small detour to allow it to complete and temperatures to return to normal before I drove in the field.
Certainly there has been enough negative commentary on these forums about the later firmware not giving continuous regen notification. I find it distrubing the Ford has apparently not paid attention to those complaints.

A couple of things I've noticed since they reflashed mine a week or so ago...I think.
It seems to shift smoother, especially in TOW/HAUL. That is noticeably different.
The other is that I seem to be getting a better mileage, hand calculated, that what the LOM is indicating. (That I am not that sure of as I haven't been on any extended runs of late). For instance I topped off the tank yesterday with about 10 gallons of liquid gold. The LOM indicated 15.8 MPG and I hand calc'd 16.5. Interesting.
That was an interesting attachment that got posted on here with the info on this PCM recalibration. It was just done for me at a service interval I had. I had no say in it at all. I never saw that letter that was attached. Its good to know that it is a PCM retraining type of thing. that way I can keep my wife out of it for awhile so she doesn't do her 24 hours at Lemans style of vehicle ops before I get a chance to train it!

I just got my letter on the weekend. Now just have to find a day I can find to take it in.
I get the feeling they're doing this primarily to minimize their warranty costs.
I doubt they'd ever say 'improved mpgs' in the flash, otherwise, everyone and his distant relatives will be lining up to get it. :-)
I think we might have started getting a non-winter blend of fuel. My mpgs seem to be better in the past few weeks here in San Jose... so let's see how this goes...
