I called my dealer today to inform of this and he told me that it was postponed due to some software issue. Anyone else hear of this. If not I will call another dealer about the reflash.
This likely means that they screwed up the shop PC and can't download the new firmware until their tech guy fixes the PC.
Mine went in yesterday, after receiving the letter late last week. Done very quickly, and as it was time, had an oli change too. While doing the oil change, they caught a tranny leak, and are now in the process of diagnosing and fixing that. So I guess you could say the flash saved my transmission!!
I recieved my letter on Tuesday, I am taking the truck in Friday morning. They told me it would take about an hour. I keep a spreadsheet of my mileage so I will see if this update makes any difference.
I didn't have an appointment, but just dropped in before lunch. They ran the vin, saw I fell under the recall, took my keys, and had the truck back to me in less than 30 minutes. Maybe this dealership is just not that busy, (that or others are REALLY busy if they are a week out on scheduling a simple flash) but I had the free time, and it was nice to get in and out real fast.

It seems like my local dealer is always busy, But I guess I am not in that big of hurry so I can wait a week.
I just had my 2008 F350 flashed this morning, the Cleaning Exhaust Filter message now displays for just a short time (maybe 30 seconds) at the start of the cycle and goes out. The message used to stay on for the entire time. I don't know yet if there were any other changes.
Has any body had this flash accomplished yet? If so is there any difference in performance or fuel mileage? Is this a flash directed by EPA that will cost a third more in fuel to operate our Super Duties.
according to the letter, and the dealer info, this update is really about added safety limits.. course it includes all the prior updates (like turning off the regen message)
but it apparently DOES reset the tranny learning..
Had my truck flashed this morning. Took about 20 minutes. I believe this flash is to help protect the engine and vital components by setting codes earlier to let you know of a problem. Did not notice any difference in the way it ran on the way home. The next regen shouldn't be that far away.
Mine has gone from 12 1/2 to 16 mpg not towing. I double checked it today and was very happy. I have not changed any of my driving habits so the only explanation is the flash. Hope it holds true.
