Question Who's Welded Their Dog House Shut for Front Tilt?

I'm getting back into the saddle with my 1950 F1 resto-mod. I do plan to have a front tilt doghouse. I do not want the completely smoothed front end. Like the fiberglass types. In my opinion the completely smoothed fronts loose some character. I want the production seams to be there but subdued. I will also leave the factory hood air holes and keep the stainless trim on it. I'm thinking that if i just leave the fenders, and front grill bolted together that I can apply backing plates and mig weld them. Then maybe just set the hood on top and tack it into place. Then do i do a fitment with the cab before final welding the hood to the fenders?

I'm thinking I'll cut the rear quarter section of the front fenders to keep those bolted to the cab. So when the dog house tilts back down it has a secure spot to line up and latch to.

Has anybody done all this yet? Got any tips/tricks/advice on it?
