I'm a fan of the flat bed with side boards. Looks cool, functional, and less worry about scratching paint or dents.

Looks like more than a couple Saturdays. I like the flatbed option too.

So you just bought the truck? If so I know of a close neighbor to you that has all the proper pieces to fix it and pretty cheap prices...

Yup got it for $300 for some needed parts on the 63. So the 65 will be the for fun fixer upper with not all the proper parts and pieces. Not the stock color either. Was going to try and find a little short wb truck like your but what the heck. Go 4x4 or go home.

Hopefully the tire chains were included at no extra charge!

Probably could of got it for $250 without the chains. I bought them to with plans to make them into one of those chain steering wheels you see in some of those low riders. Looks like I got about enough chain to make 4 steering wheels.

Where would one go about getting a flat bed kit like that? or is it something you have to dream up on your own?

That one looks homemade i'd guess. Can't tell if the pieces running perpendicular are wood or steel.

i would go with a flatbed as well. And if you have a welder and a angle grinder build your own. you can build one a lot better for about the same price.

Well last night I found a place near Seattle that makes flat beds out of aluminum. Look to be very light but durable. Price for a full truck short or long was around $3500 installed or they will ship a kit to you to install your self. I found that on Craigs List in the Seattle auto parts look up. Only slightly more than 200lbs vs 300 to 400lbs for steel and wood.

well a couple years ago i built one for my 64 for about 700. Mine is heavy but i wanted it that way because a little weight on the back of these trucks really don't hurt anything. Im cheap tho so i build everything.
