Should I add an additional cooler?
My Expe, see my signature, has the factory Heavy Duty Tow Package (and factory 3.55 gears for some reason, I sure wish they were at least 3.73) anyway it has the tow package with the bigger radiator, motor oil cooler, and transmission fluid cooler. We primarily use the vehicle to tow our 7000 lb TT on weekends to local campgrounds and the occasional 300 miles trip out of state. This summer we plan on camping in more mountainous areas and I am concerned about the transmission overheating. Should I add an additional cooler in series with the factory transmission cooler, or will the factory cooler be sufficient?

Transmission temperature gauge, that is what you need. The ONLY way to know if you need more cooling capacity is to monitor the temp. I seriously doubt you need more capacity.
No matter how large a cooler you fit, it is still very possible to cook a trans towing in the summer, on long grades etc. If you have a temp gauge you know when it is time for a cool down.

Just an FYI - in 2000 at least, a 3.73 was not offered unless you ordered it with a high altitude emissions package. I have the 3.73 on mine. I had it special ordered through the Ford dealership, with the emissions package.
