don't use the copper spray on ford engines they don't need or like it, and the intake gaskets are plastic and rubber so don't put anything on those either

the only place you will use silicone is at a joint for the rubber gasket, such as the valve cover gasket where the head and front cover meet also where the head and block, and the block and oil pan meet for the front cover gaskets, just a spot in each not alot

I also have this problem of a oil leak. I have A 2003 f150 fx4 with the 5.4 triton motor. It is leaking on the passenger side all over the starter and down the bell housing of the trans. thought it was a rear main but was not. truck is paid off and no warranty. I notice oil last couple off changes I did myself. took it to a freind of mine we found out it was a head gaket leak. looked up the tbs found nothing. sound like ford needs to own up to there mistakes. know I have to fix there problem. But I could use some help with this problem. will I need to replace this head also.

No the updated Ford head gasket fixes the issue, I don't recommend aftermarket gaskets because of that

Worth mentioning the left and right side heads are the same casting---right side experiences this leaking noticeably at the back, left side does it too but is hidden by the front cover. Its quite common on engines pre-2002 from what I've read.

oil leak on the 03 5.4 triton

it is on the passenger side right side at the rear of the motor. By putting in a new head gasket will this stop it. It has never over heated or could there be another problem. I am seeing oil in the tank were the coolant goes and a little white foam in the oil cap area but not in the oil pan. I am pretty certain it's a head gasket.
