Roadtrip- remove fan?

Im going on a liytle roadtrip this weekend about 6 hrs each way and i was thinking about removing the clutch fan since im cruising empty i was going to unload anything not nessasary, air tires up a little more. Maube add a light shot of propane just run a hose to air cleaner and drive about 58-60 to see how much i can get outta the ol bird what ya think?

Not sure why you want to remove your fan for better mileage? The reason the fan clutch is there is to disengage the fan at highway speeds in other words the motor isn't spinning the fan.

Maybe a good wash and wax for better aerodynamics I guess cruise control at about 60-mph with max air in the tires is about all I can think of.

Good luck...

I think he wants to take the fan off completely. I wouldn't do the propane. That can get very dangerous if not done correctly and could get you a large fine.

I would leave it off cruise. I've always gotten better milage without it because its so hard on the throttle going up hills to maintain speed. If you leave it off and just live with losing a few mph cresting hills you will get better milage. Try it one way with the cruise and one way without. You might be surprised. Although no cruise for 6 hrs straight sucks lol

well, i took the "big" spring off my gas pedal to make it easier to hold down, foot dont get so tired. aclually i just un hooked the spring its still there, a little screwdriver to pop off the spring and its still there in case u dont like it for some reason, but i love it, i would never go back to the stiff pedal. you dont have to even take the pedal off to get the spring on or off. its easy mod and makes it more fun to drive, ya'll should try it! oh and the fan clutch thing, my clutch would never engage before, ac is hot in the summer, so i drilled a small hole in it and filled it up with lucas oil stabilizer ((: i think i put too much oil in it because now it never lets go, its like a whirlwind! ac is a constant 38.5 degrees now tho so idc! lol i think i need to let some oil out of it for it to work right, but its winter now and why not?? i can always put it back on if i have any problems ya know?? the cruise is a little aggressive on uphill grades, i will try one way on the other off and report my findings here.
