How many mpg's are u guys getting in 5.4 superduty

Theres too many factors, my engine is in near perfect condition just changed the plugs out and i get about 11.5 and much less in the winter. But I idle alot and have a lot of short trips and sometimes my truck dosnt warm all the way up. If you do a lot of highway driving or dont drive as hard or dont idle as much your v10 numbers could be better. Theres just no way to compare numbers that arent done close to the same way.

I know that I drive exactly the same as a good friend of mine that's nearby, our trucks are equipped almost exactly the same, we both feel the same about warmups,etc,etc..and his 5.4L truck is the same towing a similar load, and only 1-2 mpg better highway driving.

My 97 150 5.4 with 3.55 gears and 255X70X15 tires, 2wd gets 12-13 city full of tools and 17-18 hwy with 190K miles on it. But only 7-9 towing the horse trailer.
My 03 250 5.4 with 3.73 gears and 315X75X16 tires 4X4 gets 11-13 everywhere empty but 14-14.5 over 75 mph. But towing the same horse trailer gets 11-12, go figure.
I figured it would be less than the 150 but not that much.
Anyway next time it's a V-10 unless Ford makes a diesel I can work on without pulling the cab off, friggin idiots. I'm thinking about taking the 5.4 and trans out of the 250 and transplanting it into the 150 and put a Cummins in my 250 and send FORD the pics just **** them off.

you get 14.5 and your complaining, thats the high end of what i get and I am not running 35 inch tires. I don't know how you can expect your 3/4 ton to get close to your half ton when your running wider, taller heavier tires on a 4x4 compared to a 4x2. Not to mention a super duty has a higher curb weight. Of course its going to be less significantly less.

Now if you really want to hear whining here goes;
I have a 625 horsepower at the crank high 10 second 3600# street car that gets 17 city and 25 hwy with an overdrive trans.
There are guys cruising the streets in 55-57 Chevy shoe boxes that weigh 2 tons have 650-700+ inch motors making 1600-1800 horsepower running high 6's at 200+mph getting 15 cty 25 hwy mpg towing a small trailer around to the events and tires a whole lot bigger than mine.
The technology is out there and I'm just getting started with it. I'll get my F250SD with a gas motor to make 400 crank horspower and 450 ft.lbs. of torque and still get 20+ mpg average. I will then tell you how to do it.
The technology has been out there for almost a decade and the car companies are still in bed with the petroleum companies screwing us.
25+ years ago Popular Science published Smokey Unich's report of taking a 2.2 liter Chrysler four cylinder and getting 345 reliable horsepower at 45 mpg on pump gas. He was just scratching the surface and Chrysler then proceeded to kill it. God only knows what could be done with a diesel.
Google alcohol fuel and read the reports coming out of the top engineering schools for the last decade. 30% better fuel mileage and 30% more power from alky on engines specifically designed to run alky with no power adders. Add superchaging/turbocharging and the sky's the limit These flex fuel engines are a joke. You can make 4-5 liters of alky in your garage for $1.25/gallon/day with an old 30 gallon hot water tank.
Again we're getting hosed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Same boat Kengoff, 9 to 10. 4x4 for very long and it's down to 8. Half tank of gas for 110 mile highway run at 65mph. I swear all I have to do is look at it and the needle goes down.
