New to Ford trucks - Mountain View

Hi. I'm new to the forum, relatively new to the area and new to Ford trucks.

I just bought a 2002 F250 Powerstroke. Need to catch up on some maintenance and get some tires (or find some used take offs) and get an alignment.

I would welcome any suggestions on where to get the truck checked over and where to go for an alignment.

7.3. The 6.0 was introduced in 2003.

What about the truck are you wanting to get checked over? There are several of us around who could do that for you.

Front end and steering mostly. Motor and trans seem OK but the steering pump seems a bit noisier than other powerstrokes I've driven (although this is the only 4x4 PSD I drove) and the steering wanders a fair amount.

I'm going to be towing with it so want to make sure everything is in good working order so I don't find myself broken down on the side of the road with a tow bill and a bigger repair bill.

Thanks.

Just my 2 pennies of thought for 2 ideas. Someone may have used ATF in the power steering, and/or it's been in there too long. Flush it with a good power steering fluid, or even a synthetic PS fluid. Then, #2- carry a spare cam position sensor. Common for it to go out at the worst possible time, and the engine wont run without it.

Welcome aboard! Mercon rated ATF or a good synthetic like Redline D4 should be used for the power steering.

Sorry but ATF is the correct fluid for the PS in these trucks. Mercon V should do the trick.

It might say so, but I'll stick with PS fluid. It has better lubricating properties....until you get to the new stuff like MerconV with its semi-sythetic base. At that point, ATF is actually better.

Don't buy used tires they are removed for a reason, unless they are brand new take offs.
