Where do you get your tires from? (Expedition)
Hi
I am soon to replace 2 front tires on my 2004 XLT expedition. What is the best way to save money doing this?
I hear some people mail order their tires and have the tire shop or mechanic put them on.
Is this worth it or shall I just go to a tire place?
What tires do you recommend? I drive 50%-50% highway/city.
Thanks a lot
Patrick

I bought a set of four Yokohama Geolanders for my '04 Expy. The are the less aggressive version, ride very well, they're quite and they are wearing perfectly. I have about 10K miles ont hem now and they are showing no signs of wear.
Just a thought, if you can afford it, I recommend replacing all four all at once.

Did you replace 2 or all 4? The 2 in the back are fine on my truck I hate to spend the extra dough.
Thanks so much

Yes I will definitely shop around. I know of 3 locally "Discount tires, big 10 tires and Kauffman tires."
I have just no clue about ordering online, I was wondering how many here do it.
Thanks a lot

Have 4 vehicles that i have purchased complete sets of tires from my local
Goodyear dealer. He matches any price, has tires in 24 hours and offers free balance and rotate every 5k. I like the personal touch and supporting a local business that is competitive.
The tire i am running is a Toyo open country ht. Great all around tire. Low noise, great wet weather grip, good snow traction and so far great longevity. I have them on two suv's and will get them again.
Hope this info helps.

Two places....Costco and Town Fair Tire (Northeast chain)
Costco; The tire price they quote per tire includes everything - stems, balancing, free life time rotation and flat repair. Every 6 months they have a rebate on BFG and Michelin for 75-100 per set. The only thing they can't do is alignments.
Town Fair; They will match any on line price you can find, regardless of where. They have a great internet tool and all you need to do is give them the best price and shipping, click submit and a few hours later they give you a price that beats it by 5% at your local store.
I always get Michelins, broke the rule once in a big way when I bought 8 BFG's, learned my lesson and am back to Michelins.
