Engine code P0174
Hello everyone,
I went to my auto store and hooked up the code machine and it read P0174 "System too lean - Bank 2".
I looked up the code and it read MAF sensor. I looked under the hood and I can't locate the MAF sensor on my truck. Could some help me out.
If anyone has a 5.4L and has picuters that will help lots.
I have a 2006 Ford F250 XLT SC 5.4L...
Thanks....

Mike-
Never owned a 5.4 and had very little luck finding a picture, however locating the MAF is really easy. All you need to do is follow your intake pipe from the air filter to the throttle body. The MAF is going to be a square flat box bolted somewhere in your intake. Probably on a steel mounting tube close to the filter or the throttle body.
You could probably clean it and that would solve the code. Use a throttle body cleaner and be careful not to break the filaments.

Ok, I found it.
Step I took.
1. I disconnect the neg to the battery.
2. I took off the MAF sensor.
3. I clean it with the MAF cleaner (quick dry).
4. Replace everything back.
I drove it for about 10 miles, but the truck still drives rough. You can really feel it when you come to a complete stop. I feel like I lose some power. The engine light did not come back on. again it drives rough. Like its misfiring.
Now I'm stump. Can it be a fuel injection going bad, fuel filter or spark plugs need to be change. The truck does have 115,000 miles on it. I will wait and see how it drive tomorrow.
Any info will help....

I believe it could also be a vacuum leak???? Don't know if they still have the same problem, but my '98 5.4 developed a vacuum leak on a component that was directly behind the throttle body. It was centered right in front of the firewall. There was a vacuum connector that would dry rot and develop a leak.
This may be totally off base, because my code was for lean on both banks, but thought I'd throw it out there for ya.
Good luck!
