My project is different. It's a54 F100 cab on a 84 F250 4x4 with the Dana 50 TTB. I'm running F600 front fenders but the axle width is perfect on my truck. The 80-96 rear diff fits fine too on mine with 56 F250 box/rear fenders. Since the F250 box is wider I don't think you'd have any problem running a newer rear diff.
I think $800 is way over priced considering the amount of rust. But most of the cab panels are available. So it all depends on how much work you really want to put into it.

Looks like alot of rust to me, see if you can find something better IMHO.
Also, to help clerify the 4 wd axles I have had both a 67 and 76 Ford 1/2 ton 4wds. The 67 and 76 front was the same width; however the 67's rear was if I recall correctly about 4 inches narrower. The 76's front and rear were the same width, to me it looked much better with matched widths.

I'd pass on that for $800, unless it was a '56 big window. And I'm up here in rust country. I got my dilapidated F1 for $500, about the same shape as that one shows, but also with a rebuilt flathead V8, title, and good frame. So....
Anyways, as I was looking at putting a '67-72 body on my '79 Bronco, I wanted to make sure the axles would still look stock under the wheelwells. That's where I was intrigued to find that the front axles were the same width, and that only the rear was wider on the '73 and up. So then I figured, I could swap the '76 f250 front axle I have onto an old frame, that I have, and put an old body on it, and make a 4x4 along with the '68 9" I have and the extra tcases and 4speeds I have laying around. I could clean up the yard and make a 4x4 truck at the same time, lol.
So out of curiosity, I'm thinking it would be nice to know the WMS to WMS of the various years' front axles, and compare them with spring pad/frame widths, and rear axles (which is documented in the articles on FTE) for 4x4 mods.

A quick search on craigslist near your area did show a hood for $50 and some '53 grilles.
Pricing might be higher where you are, location makes a big difference in what something is worth. Think about what it would cost to travel somewhere and bring back a truck, you may find spending $500 to get a truck farther from you will end up saving you more money in the long run if it's in better condition.
Personally I never really saw rust as a big problem, but I like metal work, a lot... however that is a lot of rust and in difficult compound places to fix. But I have no idea what the market is like over in PA, could be common could be the only rusty one you'll come across.
She does look fairly complete. I can only speak for pricing in my area (which is a long ways to the west, lol), for $800 I would wait to find something without such rust issues, especially on the cab. You can swap out fenders and hoods, but cabs are a whole different ball game.

wow, and i worried that my '53 F250 had too much rust. I got freakin lucky trading a '80 Kawasaki KZ750 LTD motorcycle for it. Saw a note on Craigs List not long ago about the guy i got the truck from. people griping about him trading junk. in my mind i guess i'm one of the few that got the best of him <g>

ya finding a pre 72 ford in my area aint easy, finding a pre 61 is near impossable. finding one that is still whole and has a good solid frame is realy rare. i thought the price seemed fare, but i'm used to buying rusty junk. i mean i ounce bought a 69 fastback mustang that broke in half when we winched it tight on the trailer, tru story..lol
i just always wanted to build an old 50's ford 4x4, and this one popped up rite under my nose.
