89 CW fuses 1 and 5 clearing
Hello all,
I've got an 89 club wagon van that is intermittently clearing fuses 1 or 5. I'm nearly bald headed from scratching it on this problem. Its a real pain because one of the fuses is supplying the brake lights. My question is this, could the culprit be the turn signal switch ? I have replace the headlight switch because it needed to be replaced anyway, but that did not fix my fuse problem. The Chilton manual I have shows the F1 and F5 fuses do feed the turn signal switch as well as the brake lights and turn signal lights. I'm thinking thats about the only thing in the circuit that could be shorting out. Anyone have any experience with this circuit ? Thanks for your help !

I'd suggest going to eBay and searching for a good used EVTM (Electrical/Vacuum Troubleshooting Manual) from Ford---its the best manual for trying to trouble shoot any electricial issues in our vans. Chiltion and those other sort of semi-generic help books tend to be woefully shy of detailed information such as specific electricial schematics.
Such a manual would help you better diagnose the problem instead of just changing parts with no effect. I've done that myself and its no fun not to mention sometimes unnecessarily expensive.
