converting to 2bbl

okay...my thread on fixing the Autolite 1100 didn't attract much attention, so i'll move on to Plan B.

what are your experiences with converting to a 2bbl carb on a 300?

i've got a couple of Autolite 2100s laying around. the adaptors sold by Classic Inlines look good, but seem to be offset, so that the carb would end up being diagonal. (unless i'm missing something?)

i also see their "2v conversion" which would mean machining the intake and making it into a real 2bbl...but they only mention doing this on the small sixes with the integral intakes. could this also be done on the 300's aluminum intake?

i was looking at these:
Trans-Dapt Performance Products 2041 - Trans-Dapt Performance Carburetor Adapters - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Trans-Dapt Performance Products 2044 - Trans-Dapt Performance Carburetor Adapters - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Online Catalog | Langdon's Stovebolt Engine Co.

i couldn't find one on for sale on the Clifford website.

any advice/experience is appreciated-
thanks

If you have an aluminum intake, it is not factory. The 300 has a cast iron intake from the factory.

An adapter can be used, but it will not give you the kind of performance that you would get with a better manifold. Modifying the stock cast iron manifold can be done, but it is tricky business cutting and welding cast iron.

You could, but once you start talking about machining a stock intake for a 2v carb you're at the point where you can pick up a used Offy intake for less. I paid $75 for my Offy C three or four years ago.

The small six guys are stuck machining the manifold/head, we big six guys have it easy.
