Pretty engine. Amazing how nice things look on a fresh restoration. And even better that you drive it. Not sure if you know Kevin Kessler who goes by Fatfendered Ford here, and lives nearby over around Champaign/Urbana, but he's redoing his '53 that has a 215. Here's the link to his own web site where he's chronicling his restoration. He told me in a separate email that he bought a NOS valve cover on eBay that was the darker green color.

I didn't mean for this thread to morph into a 215 discussion. Seriously, you are an inspiration to us old timers for the future of the hobby. I remember rebuilding an old car with my son, and hope to do it in coming years with my grandson (now 4 y.o.). It's a great way for the generations to stay connected. Stu

The first 215 I bought was covered in grease and grime. After I power washed it, the original colors appeared.
Here's a picture of the valve cover in the shade and in the sunlight. I took it to my friend's body shop to have the painter match the color.
I also have the light green colored pieces that came off the same engine to be color matched, but can't find them now, nor their pictures. Their color was the same is in your picture, Stu.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. That engine looks really nice. The biggest challenge with mine is keeping the manifolds nice. No matter what paint I use it still burns through with time. I thought about doing the porcelain plating, but they want an arm and a leg for that.

I just pulled my 2010 Hemming's calendar off the cabinet and flipped back through it to see if I wanted to cut/save any pics before putting this year in the recycle, and what do I see???? Jordan's truck is Miss March!!!! How the heck did I miss that? Was there an old thread that I missed? Anyway, good goin' for a second time this week (or so). Being in the Hemming's calendar is quite an honor. Stu
