What color blue did you use on your engine? I want to paint my air cleaner and valve covers, ect. the same shade as you used. It looks great. I was actually thinking of getting them powered coated.

I bought it at Tractor Supply, it's in a spray can and it a Ford Blue, I know that's kinda vague but I didn't have time today to go to my shop and look at the can, my wife has been sick with diverticulitis, spent the last two days at the doctor's and hospital, seeing the surgeon tomorrow to schedule surgery for next week, It will be a week in the hospital then about two to three weeks at home recovery, looks like the truck may be on hold for a few weeks while I get to be her nurse. We do what we have to for our spouse, she never left my side for two weeks when I had heart surgery, so I can do no less for her.
I will try to make a picture of the can and exact color name tomorrow morning.

Paint

Go to this Plastikote engine paint website, put in your zip code and it will find a dealer near you.

Engine Enamel:Specialty | PlastiKote Paint Products

I would then call them to see if they have it before you do a lot of driving around.

Bucket Seats Finished

I sent my seats yesterday to the upholstery shop and got them back today. I know I' way ahead of needing them but I wanted something finished to give me hope that someday I will get done with this truck. I went by the shop that's sandblasting my bed and he had it cleaned, no paint anywhere. They are going to epoxy primer it tomorrow and finish paint the bottom so once we flip it over we will be done with the underneath side. They also have my hood and front fenders, they soda blasted them today and they look like new, I forgot to make pictures but am going back tomorrow just to do that, I'm trying to keep pictures of everything so someday I can look back and wonder what possessed me to do this whole project. Below are a few pictures of my seats. I had them finished in the 66 Pony interior, I know none of them had this from the factory but I love this look.

New Grill

I was very lucky a few weeks ago when another member posted on here asking what this grill was for, he was not sure what year it was. I knew it was a 71/72 from the insert mounting clips. I made him an offer, he took it and shipped it to me, it got here last week, it was brand new from ford, still in the box it had been stored in for 38 years, I went by Dennis Carpenters in Concord Saturday and got new inserts, they were out of the headlight trim covers but will have them in a few weeks. My grill was in almost perfect shape and had no plans to replace it but this was to good to pass up.

Man, you are doing this one right - can't wait to see the finished truck. Compliments on how clean your shop is too - good sign!

What's a reasonable price to have a truckbed and hood sandblasted? Would it be worthwhile repairing significant rust holes in the truckbed or should I just seek out a replacement 8 footer in better condition? I just acquired my father-in-laws 71 ford f250 4x4 with pto winch on the the front bumper. Got some rust issues and needs new wheels. any suggestions on where to start?

You never know what's going to happen next, The truck has been on hold for the last two month's, my wife got real sick the first of January, finally got well enough to have a much needed colon surgery the 21st of February, seven days in the Hospital, home for 14 days, Golf ball size abscess in her abdomen, eight more days in the Hospital. The last two weeks I have been playing nurse for her, I have been giving her IV's daily thru a PICC line trying to get her well again. Thank God she is almost well and today was the last IV treatment.

I was able to make a much needed purchase on E-Bay last week and wanted to share what I got, I have Bid on at least 6 sets in the last 6 months and was always outbid. I got these for $89.00 with shipping. They did not look this good but were in very good shape. I completely disassembled them and used 00 steel wool to polish them, replaced all the bolts, washers and cap nuts with new stainless steel ones. I also replaced the plastic and rubber washers. All total I had about four hours work in this and about $58.00 dollars in new parts. The mirrors were in perfect shape and I did not replace them. All total I ended up with a little less than $150, not bad for a like new set of mirrors that you can't buy new at any price.

With a little luck I hope to get back to work on my truck and see some progress real soon. more updates and pictures as soon as changes happen.
