looking for pictures of 70's ford f250's with stacks

Here's one since I forgot to add one when i posted my opinion. I think they can be pulled off cleaner but they don't look horible here.
Stacks are just getting more popular as diesels are becoming more popular since they are typically a "diesel thing". More of one = more of another ya know... I don't think they are anything close to the lambo door fiasco but you're welcome to that opinion Stacks have been around too long to be a trend like that. Here's an old school setup.
Again - not my style as I'm not into the "retro" or 70's style build/paint but still cool in it's own right and I've seen MUCH worse out there.

Back in high shool a friend of mine bought a 1984 F-250 4x4 6.9 diesel and it had a single stack coming through the pick up bed. I thought it looked good but listen to this. It was a large oxygen tank from cutting torch with the ends cut out then a piece of pipe on the top. lol. It had a chrome heat sheild over it from a semi truck. Actually looked decent.

Yeah...don't get me wrong guys, I do think stacks have the potential to look just fine, but so many guys are doing it these days and so many of those look crappy, it ain't even funny. Personally, I don't think stacks have a place on gassers except instances of rerouting for offroad purposes. And like I said, so many diesels go over the top or look crappy that I've basically just resorted to laughing at anything that isn't a big rig that has stacks. But every once in a lunar eclipse (current event points) I see one that does look good.

The ones on the old school flareside that chase posted don't look bad. But they arent run UP THROUGH the bed. Like I posted earlier I have seen some flatbeds and service bodies with them on that really looked decent. Just cant see why youd want to run them up through the bed though....... Just my opinion........I guess if thats what you want........Its your truck do what YOU want.

I think its about proportionality,a crew cab long bed could get away with larger dia. stacks than a reg. cab short box and IMO on any truck they need to be tucked as tight into the corner of the bed as possible and not stick up over the cab too much to look "right", also they need to be finished right, I've seen ones that are reg. exhaust pipe with clamped on tailpipe tips and they look like *****. Now if someone took a lil effort to weld/grind/ paint or plate that same setup it could have looked good. But to repeat a common theme here-do what makes you happy and what you like, dont worry bout others opinions. Those are words to live by, not just build a truck by!

I agree with all in that stacks can look cool, but it's like a 50/50 hit/miss ratio. I've seen some I REALLY like and others I hate. Proportion and cleanliness of fabrication comes into play a lot here!

I am talking from experiance. DONT DO STACKS. All they do is make a mess and on a gas truck they are stupid with no smoke coming out(blue or white dont count)
I had stacks in 2 different trucks. They just take up valuable bed space and blow soot all over everything. They also draw ALOT of unwanted attention

I have no experiance but while looking for pics I saw lots of interesting trucks. This one is the only one I saw that was a dentside:
Now this was cool by incorporating it into the bed:
I like how they followed the angle of the cab but it would look better (in my own eye) to have finished it by turning the top to follow the roof line:
This seems like a neat idea in that you wouldn't get rain down your stacks:
And something humerous:

That red truck above is what I'm talking about when I complain about over sized stacks. I've seen MUCH bigger - but those still look too big to me.
The "rain proof" round ones look more appropriately sized to me.
That brushed looking one on the black truck just looks weird and I won't even comment on the w h o r e-vette

1965 F250 Flatbed with Stacks

I bought the truck with the stacks, and I think they look cool. I will be going with a more standard exhaust when I complete all of the modifications I have planned for the truck, but I drive it like it is for now. More pics are in my Flickr albums.
