need a lil help in nj
hey yall im new here and i need a crash course in speed density and making power around it or with it. i have a 89 xlt lariat 4x4 always does what its told, satisfaction and reliability are through the roof. but i really wanna see and hear that 351w move you know.
i just want a basic understanding of speed density and how some bolt on power would react with it, all this talk about cams and how it lowers the vaccum , to cause undesired responses has me worried

Where are you at in NJ? We are in franklinville,nj (south Jersey).
I was entertaining the mass air idea myself, but figured I had a 6000+lb truck just how fast is it gonna go!? So I cammed it for low end and did a high flow cat and single exhaust. It gets out of its own way now, but still is no race car. But it pulls well enough for a 5.8 small block. The mass air switch over is easy enough to do with pick and pull parts.

im in salem haha i go to franklinville with my buddy all the time it helps when you have a hemi for a recovery vehicle , ever been to gleasons im usually there once or twice a month after a good ride, so neversosure u did the cam first? im looking for nice low rpm cam im always towing some one, some thing or pulling a bogger who got stuck for a decent buck , but how much did that mass air conversion cost you ? i went to shorty's u pull it (on the black horse pike) and i cant find a cpu that has the 5.8 and the c6 trans for the conversion.

I was going to do the mass air conversion but stayed with the Speed density. I didn't need the mass air conversion due to the size cam we put in, I will dig up the cam numbers, I know it is a compu cam.
The mass air conversion is only a few bucks, need a puter from a 5.0 and the parts. I bet it could all be had for less then $75 bucks. Don't worry if you find a stick shift puter, since the c6 is not puter controlled.
We did the cam, exhaust, 5 spd ZF, rears swap all at the same time. We did a frame up build on the 89 f250, put a 96 front end on her then had it painted. Pics are in my gallery of the truck.

I know I could build my own system, but I wanna do it cheaply, with out going to the aftermarket area. Plus I don't wanna get into the burning chips and etc..
