I have never been to NYC and it is a 6 hour drive from here so I can not comment on that. Joisey Steve lives close to there and goes into the city once and a while.
A buddy of mines little brother is going to school there now and loves the place, guess I just figured everyone local visited. Kinda like Disneyland, lol
No I have not. It has been many, many moons since I have been out in a boat. When I did it was in Sodus Bay which is connected with Lake Ontario via a channel.

I would actually feel inclined to buy a boat with a lake that size near me. Only thing local here is a portion of the Missouri River which I drive by everyday on my way to work so its not that impressive
It would be nice to have a boat as you mentioned because not only is there Lake Ontario, but south of me are the Finger Lakes. Very pretty area and those lakes were created in the Ice Age from the glaciers carving out the earth. When the glaciers receeded they left the lakes and the topography is rolling drumlins. The larger Finger Lakes were named after the Native American tribes that lived in the area. Seneca is I believe the deepest fresh water lake in the US, possibly North America and it is 630' deep.
