I have a 2003 Ford Expedition that I recently tried to replace the rear entertainment DVD system after the screen just stopped working. Anyway I found a 2003-2006 replacement on ebay, got it in an figured out the DVD unit that was in mine when I purchased it was actually made in 02 so my wiring harnesses are not matching up. Can someone please help. I do not want to cut the wires until I for sure know how to make the cross over.... PLEASE HELP!!!! We have a three year old that misses it..

 

My best suggestion is to go to the parts counter at the dealer and see if they can print out a diagram of both connectors for you.

 

Do you feel like being a guinea pig? Here's what is likely your problem (something I want to do to my 03 and have researched). The 2003 dvd units didn't come with wireless headphones and have 12 pin connectors. The unit you bought has the infrared transmitters (2 black squares on either side of the front panel) for wireless headphones and it has a 20 pin connector. I'm wanting to put a unit with IR wireless headphones in my 03 and researched the pin-outs of the 2 connectors to try and make it work. It looked totally do-able, I just haven't bought a new player yet. I'll dig out my sheet this evening. You can try it and potentially add the wireless option to your truck. Or, your other option is to sell the unit you bought and buy one specifically for an 03 with a 12 pin connector.

This is all assuming the new unit you bought looks identical to the unit currently in your truck, except the new unit has the 2 black squares and a 20 pin connector. If the units aren't identical as I'm describing, then one of them is not factory hardware and who knows what you have.
