96 F350 7.3L sputtering conking out
My first post here, I started my truck a 96 F350 4x4 supercab with 211088.9 miles on it, the other day, All was fine, Left my drive-way, got to about 4 blocks and then the truck lost horse power and started to sputter and a conking sound. Check Engine light came on. I was able to get it back to the house. looked around and found two of the four external wiring harness connector that taps into the existing wiring harness. (The connectors seam to be kind of fraded) either from wear and tear..(Heat).. I then looked online and orders re-placments from dieselcare.com / us. I replaced the old ones with the New onces. I had de-programed the truck from my after markt chip program. The Truck Starts fine for about 1-1/2 minute's. then starts to sputter and a conking sound. I'm not sure how to check the IDM to see if the proper current is being sent.. I also unpluged my batter's to make sure this resets the computer. Same result. I rented a Code reader from AutoZone and was not able to see any Codes. Open for any suggestion to try!! thanks.

Are you talking about the four connections at the heads? Did you look at the connections under the vc's? I'm not sure what a "conking" sound is. Autozone code readers won't read our trucks, need auto enginuity or scan gauge or snap on I think works too. Hopefully you get some more help here.

Yes did remove Fuse # 9 unseated Connector on CMP then, re-connected and put fuse back in. Truck ran about 10-15 minutes fine. then it begain to sputter again. It looks like it will not make it to the Ford Dealer, So I will have a friend stop by and swap out the CMP. and also check for Codes. thank you all.. will post results.

Update.. Friend did not stop by yet.. So I was able to replace the CMP that I got from the International Dealer.. Replaced it this am. Still same result.. It will start up fine for about 1-1/2 minuits then Check Engine light comes on and the truck start to sputter conking sound.. I did double check the external wiring harness connector.. Just to make sure they makeing good contact.. any New suggestions.. How do I check to see if my IDM is good. this is what I did, started the truck, as it was running I pulled one at a time starting at Front left Engine tuck still running.. Then reseated it back into place.. 2nd pulled the left back one same thing truck still running..then reseated it back into place. then pulled 3rd one front right side. Truck Died... truned the key off, reseated it back and on the 4th one the front right back side pulled it off as the truck was runinng all was fine. reseated it back.. Not for sure if this tells me anything is wrong with the 3rd right side.. and Something may be wrong with my IDM. Going to see If I can use my other friends trailor and take it to the dealer.. Hate to do this!! As it's close to the holidays.. and you know they try to put more into it then it really needs..
