I was the exact same way with my 04. Put 50k on it. I did have a oil cooler that was replaced under warranty at 90k and around 130k I had a few tranny issues. The only reason I traded the truck was simply economics. I bought the truck cheap. I was likely looking at 2-3 grand to put a tranny in it. The dealer offered about 2 grand less than I bought the truck for and I got the 06 fairly cheap. When the dust fell I wound up with a truck with 80k less miles, 2 yrs newer, and the best part I owe about 3 grand more than I did on my 04. Going off of book value on both this truck is worth about 10k more to. Lol I liked the white and tan better though.

I feel the same way. I have had my Excursion for two weeks and all I have heard from different forums is how these suck. I worry but am glad to see posts like this.

Changed oil and fuel filters last week and also replaced a drag link end. Got one more weird rubbing noise coming from driver's side front end that I'm going to chase this weekend. I have it on good authority that Santa is bringing me a coolant filter, at which time the system will be flushed. Gauges will be next, but my birthday's not til June...might have to invent my own gift-giving holiday for mid-January Also might have to look into either a 2nd job or marrying a rich woman to support me in a manner which I could easily grow accustomed to.

whatever you do don't go swapping out the factory intake filter in favor of an aftermarket unit

wasted money and not the same quality of filtration in almost all situations

unless your opposed to the noise. keep the stock exhaust just ditch the kitty and the muffler. then keep the stock air filter intact. the savings of doing this will nearly pay for a new set of tires, a tuner, gauges etc.... and a stock straight pipe will preform pretty darn close to a 4" system. the stock intake will flow enough air to handle anything the stock turbo can dish out. but thats my .02

Hi first post here for me. I bought my 04 f-350 3 years ago. Since then I've read all the doom and gloom. My truck is 100% stock, zero mods. Other than regular mantinance I've replaced the altanator, new tires and had the dealership fix an upshift problem in the tranny (supposedly a common thing with the tranny). I pull 10' -40' trailers quite often and not one motor problem. It is sensitive to dirty fuel filters though. That maybe cause I run the tank to E every time I fill and could be getting junk off bottom of tank. I just joined the forum but have been picking your minds for years.
