At 250k if the glow plugs haven't ever been replaced, replace 'em. My truck came from CA and at 145k miles 6 of 8 OEM glow plugs were dead.

You don't have to use a multimeter. Take a normal test light, hook the ground wire to the pos battery terminal touch the point to the plug for the glow plug, if it lights it's good, if it doesn't it's bad.

Hey guys...Sorry Ive been MIA. Got real sick at work and had to change jobs actually. This weekend I took some time and yanked the batteries (OLD and coroded terminals) I put my Two Marine Deep cycles on the truck wuahahahaa. I also swapped the Glow Plug relay. Most of the time I can hear the relay click and it will fire...sometimes it does not click and then it takes 3-8 minutes of trying to get her to run...Point being though that the deep cycles have so much juice that I dont have to worry about getting stranded. I think i will replace the glow plugs at some point but Im broke and if i can get it to start on the 20th try then at least im not getting stranded.

Are GPR affected by cold? Theres no way they are not getting voltage as I have 1000cca on each battery and 180 amp hours per battery. Being deep cycles I will probably discharge them fully once a month and recharge as to not hurt the "memory" or whatever its called

Thanks for all the help...Looking forward to spring and not plugging in anymore

"I think i will replace the glow plugs at some point" LOL!!! I can find 20+ posts in the last 4 years that I said "DANG IT! next summer I am gonna change my GP's"! I FINALLY changed them this last summer and it will start in the cold now but I still plug it in!
IF/WHEN you change your GP's I would also replace the injector O-rings while you are there.
I am glad you feel better and found another job! (jobs are a good thing to have now a days)
I don't think GPR is affected by the cold. When you do the GP's you may want to also be prepared to replace a head cover gasket and injector harness.

LOL well the funny thing is the Glowplugs are all sitting at my old work in the parts department...Im just shy on funds so figured I would postpone...I also tracked down a guy who specializes in 7.3s out here out of his garage. Sounds like for a couple hundred bucks he will go through and tighten up all the turbo tubes and replace certain necessary items (plus parts) that are easy to do...Guess he can do GPs prettty easy...for the time being just happy I havent gotten stranded
