4' diesel exhaust??

anyone running 4" diesel exhaust on their V10? I like how mine sounds with single 3" in, dual 2.5" out, but I like the look of single 4" with a 5" polished tip. With the same style and brand muffler, would it make a big difference in how it sounds compared to now? really thinking about going with 4" 7.3 diesel pipes, and another dynomax ultra flo, as my tailpipes are starting to get nasty.
thanks guys

You couldn't pay me to run a single 4" system on my V10. Not just from the annoying drone but the highly likely loss of low end power.

Just a thought but if you like the look of a big fat chrome tip like I do, but love the sound of your muffler then go to a 3" inlet tip that is 12" to 14" long and 4" out. This is what I did and lost nothing on the low end. I do not know if you can find a 5" out but its a compromise.

I love my 4"x16" tip. I thought about going with the dual out but this truck is never going to sound like a V8 so I did not even bother with duals.

.

thanks for the input. Im thinking about just using the 4" tailpipe, and still using 3" up to that. That way I dont lose much back pressure, and it shouldnt affect the sound very much.

Yep pretty much what I did. I cut off about 12" off the tailpipe then hit the stainless with some acetone to clean every thing up. Then shot it with some high heat self itching primer and some flat black engine paint. Replaced the portion I cut off with the big fat "diesel" style tip. Looks great and sound just as good as it did before.

Well I'm gonna give it a try. I'm gonna run 3" back to the muffler, then run 4" over the axle and tailpipe. I'm using a dynomax single 3 in single 3 out ultra flow SS muffler, and a 4" tailpipe for a 7.3 diesel. If I don't like how it sounds I'll put my old exhaust back on. Will post sounds if I like it

got it done

well i put the new exhaust on last night. I have a dynomax bullet muffler, 3" in/out after the Y-pipe, then a 3" in/out dynomax Ultra Flow SS, then a 4" 7.3L diesel tailpipe and a 5" tip. Sounds great! I will be posting videos and sounds when I get some time.
