Ken, would it be better to get an estimate first and then see the insurance company?
I would think that it would be a good idea...that way you can compare the damage estimates to your deductible to guage whether filing a claim is a good idea. Your insurance company can tell you what the cost of increased premiums...if any...might be. If you're considered at fault...they may attach some points to your driving record...costing you more in annual premiums.
