Is your 77 a highboy or 77.5 style truck? IIRC a 14b is damn close to being bolt in on the highboy trucks.

ok, so WHAT YEARS 14 blt would work? I have a D70 in my F350 right now but it has a scored spindle from a seized bearing...(just found it...PO must have chizzled off the old bearing and put a new one on just to sell it!) So now I am in his debate. I have been all over the wrecking yards and only found 1 D70....and at the time I didnt know about the scored spindle!
I have a '96 Suburban 2500 with a FF 14blt and I like it for the fact that the drums slide off WITHOUT removing the axle...but YES it is a FULL FLOATING 10.5" 14blt.

Put up a pic of the scored spindle. Doesn't sound like a big deal. You could always fill it with a small weld and use a sanding flap wheel on a grinder to feather it out.

I had outer bearing seized on my spindle once. I diagonally zip cut into till it could be knocked off with a wedge. Little zip cut mark left behind I welded and flap wheeled smooth.

This is just the outer bearing shell^

I dont have a pic, but it looks more like a spun bearing. I didnt see any bluing from heat. Did you put discs on the back? And did you change the left handed threads to right handed on the drivers side? I would prefer to keep my D70(less work right now)

If its chewed you'll prob have high and low spots. Use a caliper and a bearing and just keep checking diameter as you clean it. Try sliding bearing on until its smooth. Use hardly no pressure, let the wheel do the work.
It would be better to judge from a pic if its salvageable but its not like its an engine bearing. Use your judgement.

I already checked the surface and it's fairly smooth. Someone obviously cleaned it up at one time. The bearings fit fine. I have fixed front 4wd spindles before.
